The AIM National Team

The AIM National Team at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) provides technical assistance and capacity building to interested and enrolled multidisciplinary state and jurisdiction teams to implement AIM-developed patient safety bundles via rapid cycle quality improvement.

GOALS OF THE AIM TA CENTER

The AIM National Team works to reduce maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity (SMM) within the United States. This is accomplished through program objectives described below in order of priority:

  • Integration of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. jurisdictions, Indian Health Service facilities, and tribal maternal health entities into the AIM Program.
  • Development of patient safety bundles and resources to support quality improvement.
  • Incorporation of respectful, equitable, and supportive care for all people into program resources.
  • Execution of a plan to collect and analyze quality improvement data on AIM patient safety bundle implementation.
  • Development of data metrics and an online national data collection system.
  • Convening a multisector national partnership of organizations who make unique contributions to support the AIM Program’s objectives and goals
  • Implementation of a communication strategy to advance awareness of maternal health issues, the AIM Program, and its partners.
  • Development of strategies that will sustain the work of AIM.
